Induction heater for copper bar drawing

Nov. 27, 2024

Duolin's induction heating machines are not only popular in overseas markets, but also widely praised in China for their excellent quality of induction heating equipment.

The domestic customer from Qingdao is a supplier for railway construction projects. They originally used cold drawing method to draw copper bar. In order to improve drawing speed, they decided to use induction heating for drawing.

The use of induction heating technology can not only improve the drawing speed, but also eliminate the internal stress of the copper rod in advance for subsequent drawing processes. According to customer requirements, the entire induction heating box and transformer need to be able to move longitudinally so that the drawing machine has enough space to clean metal shavings when drawing.

After visiting our production plant and quality control process, they ultimately decided to let Duolin complete this project. After multiple discussions among Duolin engineers, the adopted solution is SSF-160D2 as the high-frequency power supply, with a customized induction heating box and heater mobile platform. After a tight production and debugging process, the entire equipment was produced and presented within 2 months. The customer and we conducted testing and acceptance of the equipment together.

The test workpiece is made of copper with a diameter of 12mm. The target temperature for induction heat transfer is 300-400C, and the estimated production efficiency is 6m/min. After the testing was completed, the production efficiency of induction heating reached 7m-8m/min, while the customer's original cold drawing technology could only reach 3m/min, which exceeded the customer's expectations.

The oscillation frequency of the induction heating power supply is 8-15kHz, and the higher resonance frequency ensures the rate of temperature rise. The higher power ensures that the production efficiency is maintained at a high level.

Duolin Company has been committed to providing customers with a complete set of solutions for many years, so that customers no longer have to worry about process matching.

What is induction Heating?

Induction heating is the process of heating an electrically conducting object (usually a metal) by electromagnetic induction, through heat generated in the object by eddy currents. An induction heater consists of induction power supply (induction heater) and inductor (coil) that is a shaped to contour the part, and a work station where the part is held and presented to the coil.
