How to repair and maintain induction heating equipment after water or moisture ingress?

The following are the general steps for repair and maintenance:

1、 Repair steps

(1) Power outage and disassembly

Cut off the power supply of the equipment as soon as possible to prevent further circuit damage and safety accidents.

Carefully disassemble the casing, circuit board, induction coil, and other components of the equipment that may be exposed to water or moisture.

(2) Drying treatment

Place the disassembled components in a well ventilated and dry environment to air dry naturally. Fans can be used to accelerate air flow, but it is important to maintain an appropriate distance to avoid physical damage to components caused by strong winds.

For important electronic components and circuit boards, professional drying equipment such as a drying oven can be used to set the temperature within an appropriate range (generally not exceeding 60 ℃) for drying treatment.

(3) Cleaning and Inspection

Use anhydrous alcohol, electronic cleaning agents, etc. to clean damp circuit boards, component pins, connection terminals, etc., removing water stains, dirt, and oxides.

Carefully inspect electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, etc., and check for any damage such as pin corrosion, component cracking, discoloration, etc. Damaged components need to be replaced.

Check if there are any open or short circuits in the circuit board's wiring, which can be measured using the resistance range of a multimeter.

Check for insulation damage, inter turn short circuits, and other issues with the induction coil. If the insulation layer is found to be damaged, insulation paint or insulation tape can be used for repair; If there is a short circuit between turns, the induction coil needs to be rewound or replaced.

(4) Reassembly and testing

After confirming that all components are dry, clean, and undamaged, reassemble the equipment in the correct order and method.

Connect the power supply, conduct preliminary functional testing, and check whether the various parameters of the equipment are normal, such as voltage, current, frequency, etc.

Conduct load testing, heat the actual workpiece, and observe whether the equipment is stable during operation and whether there are any faults such as overcurrent.

2、 Maintenance steps

(1) Strengthen protection

Install waterproof covers or place the equipment in a waterproof and moisture-proof environment to avoid direct exposure to humid air or potential water ingress.

For the inlet and outlet, ventilation openings, and other parts of the equipment, filter screens or protective covers can be installed to prevent moisture and dust from entering the interior of the equipment.

(2) Regular inspection

Regularly check the sealing performance of the equipment, such as the sealing strips of the casing and the sealing covers of the wiring terminals, to ensure that they are intact and can effectively prevent moisture and dust from entering.

Regularly check the working environment of the equipment, such as humidity, temperature, etc., to ensure that they are within the allowable range of the equipment. If the working environment has high humidity, it may be considered to install dehumidification equipment.

(3) The use of desiccants and hygroscopic agents

Place an appropriate amount of desiccant or moisture absorbent inside the device, such as silica gel, calcium chloride, etc., to absorb the moisture inside the device. It is necessary to regularly inspect and replace desiccants or moisture absorbing agents to ensure their moisture absorption effect.

What is induction Heating?

What is induction Heating?

Induction heating is the process of heating an electrically conducting object (usually a metal) by electromagnetic induction, through heat generated in the object by eddy currents. An induction heater consists of induction power supply (induction heater) and inductor (coil) that is a shaped to contour the part, and a work station where the part is held and presented to the coil.
